What We’d Do This Weekend – 7/27-7/29

What We’d Do This Weekend – 7/27-7/29

Movie: Ruby Sparks at The Landmark
We just can’t wait to see this movie that supposedly pops right off the page chock full of Zoe Kazan cuteness and Paul Dano intensity from the directors of Little Miss Sunshine. We recommend the 7:20 screening, where the directors will conduct a Q&A after the movie! Tickets are $12.50 with a $1.00 service charge.
Get tickets here for the 7:20 show
10850 West Pico Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90064

Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds are a nine piece modern take on classic soul and blues-rock that sound like a perfect and priceless (literally and figuratively) welcome to another summer weekend of bliss. The festival  begins at 6 pm so that you have a chance to stroll their vendors, and the music starts at 8 pm.

Other: The Pancakes and Booze Art Show at Lot 613
$5 goes a long way at the Pancakes and Booze Art Show, where the price of admission gets you access to all you can eat pancakes, local bands, a free photo booth, live body painting, and a pretty extraordinary art show. Show starts at 8 pm and runs until 1 am, $5 door.

Movie: Psycho in Pasadena Central Park
Scary, classic, Hitchcock, what more did you want? Maybe a chance to get out to Pasadena to the first American film to ever show a toilet flushing on screen? That’s right, we read IMDB Trivia. This outdoor screening of Psycho is totally free and a great place to meet up with a group.
Central Park, 99 S. Raymond Avenue, Pasadena, CA

Music: Nick Waterhorse at Saturdays off the 405
After receiving tremendous praise at SXSW, Nick Waterhorse is making his way to the Getty on Saturday night to grace you with some free music as you take in the striking architecture and views that this LA beauty has to offer. Waterhorse plays “vintage R&B” and will perform “Some Place” from his Urban Outfitters Music Video Series.

Chinatown and KCRW unite for this music infused explosion of culture in Chinatown on Saturday night, featuring an LA Weekly music stage, a craft beer garden curated by Eagle Rock Brewery, tons of food trucks, free cultural workshops, cooking demos, video projections, and more!

Movie: Clueless at Beverly Canon Gardens
Not only is the irony of watching a FREE screening of Clueless in Beverly Hills awesome, the movie itself is hilarious enough to “roll-in with your homies” to see Paul Rudd in one of his first roles. The movie starts at 8 pm, but be sure to leave plenty of your time because “everywhere in LA takes 20 minutes”.
218 N Beverly Blvd, Beverly Hills, 90210

Music: The Crystal Stilts at the Echo
Nothing says Sunday like the hypnotic music of the Crystal Stilts. Part Time Punks at the Echo presents Crystal Stilts, The Mantles, and Sea Lions.  Concert starts at 10 pm.
