Runyon Canyon

A short hike with dogs (and what a view)

Okay, so don’t tell serious hikers you went on a “hike” at Runyon … They’ll sort of freak out on you. It’s more of a free outdoor workout with tons of pretty people to look at, but more importantly, the most amazing canines you’ve ever seen in your life. Frenchies, Cogis, Mixed Breeds, You Name Its-the most adorable dogs on earth and the people (often celebrities) that own them are are truly a mood booster after a long day at work, and there’s nothing like a little dog conquering a big hill to push you through that toughest moment. A full loop around Runyon’s main path should take you about 45 minutes and give you a butt-busting workout with nice highs and lows so that you never max out.For the more adventurous, take the Hero’s Trail as seen on the trail map-it’s nothing to scoff at and will take you a little over an hour to complete.

Parking is difficult and permitted. We suggest parking on N. Curson (North of Hollywood Blvd.) and cutting through Wattles Garden Park to Franklin Ave. and then walking up to N. Vista St. and into the park.
