AN EGYPTIAN THEATRE
If you like watching old Hollywood movies in an old Hollywood structure, visit Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, which was opened in 1922 and is still in tact. In the heart of Hollywood, the Egyptian’s massive Egyptian columns house everything from double features of your favorite classics to short runs of newer independent films (generally screened in the Egyptian’s smaller “Spielberg” screening area), to the occassional holiday event or party. The theatre’s Egyptian Revival Style entry lined with thin and dramatically lit palm trees leads into a reveled movie palace, and if you’re in the area and want more of a historical context, you can take one of their weekend tours listed on their website.
