Please join Book Soup and ARTBOOK | Paper Chase on Tuesday, November 29, from 7-9pm at the ARTBOOK | Paper Chase showroom–7174 Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood–for a spirited discussion about Southern California’s blasting and wondrous light with esteemed author and critic Lawrence Weschler and critically acclaimed photographers and bookmakers Mike Light and Mike Slack. Weschler will discuss his new book,Uncanny Valley: Adventures in the Narrative, in relation to Light and Slack’s Los Angeles imagery. Light will present aerial photographs of the city–in bright daylight and electrified darkness–from his new book, LA Day/LA Night. Slack will show his classic Polaroids of the west, along with a preview of some new digital work.
A reception and book signing with all of the panelists and reception will follow. Weschler will sign copies ofUncanny Valley: Adventures in the Narrative; Vermeer in Bosnia; Seeing is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees and True to Life. Mike Light will sign copies of LA Day/LA Night; Bingham Mine/Garfield Stack; 100 Suns and Full Moon. Mike Slack will sign copies of : OK, OK, OK; Scorpio; and Pyramids.
