Angels Knoll

A PLACE TO OGLE ARCHITECTURE (AND RIDE A REALLY STEEP TRAIN)

Remember that scene in (500) Days of Summer where Joseph takes Zooey up to that park bench to draw a building tattoo on her arm? If you’ve ever wondered where that is and wanted to see it for yourself, you can visit Angel’s Knoll, where the very same park bench and view of the skyline still stands. In order to get there, you can either walk up a long flight of stairs after grabbing a horchata at Grand Central Market, or proceed to take Angel’s Flight, the “shortest railway in the world”. At the very top, Angel’s Flight lets off at the California Plaza, which is host to the summer concert series Grand Performances and a huge fountain with ample seating to enjoy some fresh air and a snack.
